I recently did a fun project with B'z where we took an old B'z song, I wrote english lyrics and re-arranged/mixed it together with my buddy Cory Churko (Kelly Clarkson, Shania Twain) The song is called 'Into Free -Dangan-' it was just released on iTunes and also for a video game called Dragon's Dogma. It's pretty intense.. check it!
You can purchase 'Into Free -Dangan-' on iTunes, or just have a listen.
Here is a link to check out the video game trailer:
Unfortunately only released in Japan at this time but the new live B'z dvd will be out next week. It's entitled 'C'mon' and it was shot during our 2011 tour of Japan. B'z / DVD&Blu-ray "B'z LIVE-GYM 2011 -C'mon-" 2012.5.30 Release

SEE LINKIN PARK & B'z PLAY AN
INTIMATE SHOW AT A SECRET
VENUE IN LOS ANGELES
You can earn two tickets to see Linkin Park like you've never seen them before by raising funds for Music for Relief's Japan earthquake & tsunami relief effort. Check out secretshowforjapan.com for more information on the show and how to get in.
Be one of the first 500 people to raise $500 for Japan and you will get access to see Linkin Park and Japan's best-selling band, B'z, on August 31, 2011 at a secret venue in Los Angeles, CA.
Top fundraisers will be rewarded with special access, one-of-a-kind signed memorabilia and meet & greets with the band.
Just a quick update on what's on my schedule in the next couple of months and beyond.
I've been busy in the studio lately, all kinds of things groovy. The entire new B'z record (C'mon) is a wrap as well as 2 singles that were recorded earlier this year - and will be doing shows with B'z again in July. The new single 'Don't Wanna Lie' and video directed by P.R. Brown, which came out June 1 is the 45th (!) consecutive #1 song on the Japanese charts; the new full-length 'C'mon' will hit stores July 27. Just before that we will embark on a 3-stop West Coast tour, the first time in 8 years we've played North America. I hope you got your tickets - all 3 gigs are already way sold out!
So stoked to be playing back home in Canada as well as my adopted hometown of L.A., CA. Funny enough, the L.A. show will be at the Nokia where B'z guitarist Tak Matsumoto was awarded his Grammy for 'Best Pop Instrumental Album' earlier this year. Belated congrats, Tak!
Come September, I'll be back in Japan with B'z for the 'Live-Gym 2011' tour which will culminate with a 3-night stand at the legendary Tokyo Dome on Christmas Eve.
Life is good.
Have a great summer everybody!
Shane

As you all know by now... Japan has been deeply affected by a tragedy of monumental proportion. Without reiterating grim details of the Earthquake/Tsunami/Reactor Crisis, I need point out that, Japan, more specifically, about 250 miles of the Northeastern Seaboard Coastline (Tohoku Regon) has been completely decimated by a mammoth catastrophe. Estimated 25,000+ not with us anymore!!!!! STOP and think about that for a minute... Of the people who didn't perish, they lost Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, relatives, houses, entire towns, livelihoods. Thousands upon thousands are displaced in shelters with barely the cloths on their backs. Even getting basic living essentials like food and water has been a challenge in some areas. It's hard for most of us to even fathom such a thought in our modern world but for these people, it is reality! A sad one at that... With all the media coverage shifting to War and Charlie Sheen. Japan needs attention... in a huge way! We can help, and it is our responsibility as humans to do as such.
This is a great organization with a very innovative approach to Disaster Relief. It is called Second Harvest. Please check them out... what they can do with little money is amazing! Basically, for every dollar donated, they deliver about $10.00 worth of food through "Food Banking" Good food that would otherwise go in the garbage, they collect it and send it to the needy without all the middleman costs that can be associated with some of the more "famous" relief efforts..

Hey everyone!
Welcome to my brand spanking new website – hope you all enjoy the SHANE GAALAAS online experience.
I’m currently in the midst of yet another Japanese tour with B’z and having a great time. We’re touring behind the ‘Magic’ album, released November 18, which I recorded in L.A. last year. I’m also on ‘My Lonely Town’, one of the singles that preceded the album, and shot 3 promotional videos with the band, ‘My Lonely Town’, ‘Ichibu to Zembu’, and 'Long Time No See’. Look for them on YouTube!
So far it's been small halls in snowy Northern Japan but this week we start the Dome leg of the tour - that'll be a kick! I've been getting out in the snow a bit and getting that Nordic feeling back in my bones. I’m Canadian, what can I say?
Anyway, here’s where we’ve been so far and where you can catch me with B’z on the ‘Ain’t No Magic’ LIVE-GYM 2010 tour:
1/14 Aomori Bunka Kaikan (Aomori)
1/15 Odate Shimin Bunka Kaikan (Akita)
1/17 Sendai Sun Plaza Hall (Miyagi)
1/19 Fukushima Bunka Center (Fukushima)
1/22 Asahikawa Shimin Bunka Kaikan (Hokkaido)
1/24 Hokkaido Kohsei Nenkin Kaikan (Hokkaido)
1/26 Hakodate Shimin Kaikan (Hokkaido)
2/12 Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN Dome (Fukuoka)
2/13 Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN Dome (Fukuoka)
2/17 Nagoya Dome (Aichi)
2/19 Nagoya Dome (Aichi)
2/20 Nagoya Dome (Aichi)
2/24 Kyosera Dome Osaka (Osaka)
2/26 Kyosera Dome Osaka (Osaka)
2/27 Kyosera Dome Osaka (Osaka)
3/3 Tokyo Dome (Tokyo)
3/4 Tokyo Dome (Tokyo)
3/6 Tokyo Dome (Tokyo)
3/7 Tokyo Dome (Tokyo)
Oh, as of January 15 there is now a ‘Shane Gaalaas Signature Vic Firth Drum Stick.’ How cool is that? In a nutshell, the design is basically the same as the classic Vic Firth 5B with a little added length for more throw and thump. It has the power of some of the longer stick models without choking up the Drums and and it's real nice for getting into those dynamic feels without feeling hamhanded.
What else can I tell you? – Well, we’re making some real progress on the new DIESEL MACHINE record. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years since we released ‘Torture Test.’ The new stuff is sounding "over the top" wicked – we should have it all wrapped up by mid-March. No label yet but we will get this bad boy out to you people one way or another. I’m also playing on Pat (Lachman) from DM’s solo album, which is still in the recording stages. As for the new COSMOSQUAD record, we've got a couple killer writing sessions under our belts so look for that one later this year.
Stay tuned & Go Team Canada at the Olympics!

Hello out there! Ouch...sorry for the delay!
Anyway, here's what's going on... I recently had the honor of appearing
at Japan's first ever drum festival "the Rhythm and Drums Festival", alongside
Terry Bozzio, Stanton Moore and many other wonderful players. Rhythm and
Drums Magazine had a nice 2 page review in this month's issue.
In B'z camp, there is a new live DVD called B'z Live-Gym Pleasure 2008 GLORY
DAYS, just released and currently #1 in Japan. The footage is from last
years final show of the "Glory Days Anniversary" tour. This was a very special
event, Live from Yokohama Stadium, commemorating 20 years of the bands existence.
Truly a highlight of my career thus far.
Well, I've finally done a Drum instructional video entitled "Perfect Rock
Drumming", so far the release is only in Japan but we're working on licencing
for the rest of the world. I am very exited about this, as it is my 1st
ever Drum video.. I think it will be a great learning tool for drummers
out there looking to improve their sound, groove and style. What a great
opportunity it is to give back a little something I've learned along the
way! so far, you can pre-order it at:
